Shell Championship Series (SCS) — Group 3A 5.0L V8 Supercars

Second Shell Championship Series. Two-tier structure introduced: the main SCS plus the new Konica V8 Lites (Development) Series feeder class (EL/VS and older; explicitly no AU/VT). The SCS DROPPED its Privateer class for 2000 and raised qualifying criteria, pushing privateers toward Lites (RA-017/FND-034, grade B). Bridgestone control tyre continued.

Champion

Mark Skaife
Holden VT Commodore · Holden Racing Team Grade D
FND-031: Skaife's third ATCC/V8 title, clinched at the final round. 13-round series.

Format

Qualifying

Sprint / race format

Multi-race sprint rounds (~13 rounds). LOW CONFIDENCE on exact race counts/distances.

13-round series (grade D). Sprint rounds ran at the established 1999/2000 circuit set — Adelaide/Clipsal 500 (Adelaide Parklands), Eastern Creek, Barbagallo, Phillip Island, Hidden Valley, Sandown, Queensland Raceway, Calder Park, Symmons Plains, Winton, Oran Park — but the exact 2000 per-round order/composition/dates are NOT pinned from primary. Only the two enduros are listed explicitly. MODERATE confidence the circuit pool matches 1999.
