Format
New (higher) per-race scales for 2006. Each round's primary race uses the 128/step-4 scale (Clipsal 250 km uses 160/step-5), the secondary race uses the 64/step-2 scale, and the two enduros use a 320/step-10 scale. Positions 1-32.
Qualifying is MANDATORY split into two sessions - an Upper 50% and a Lower 50% - by practice times (D 5.3.1). TOP TEN SHOOTOUT (D 5.6): the ten fastest across the two sessions contest a single-car, single-flying-lap shootout; running order 10th to 1st (slowest of the ten first); each car does one out-lap (green flag at Control Line starts the timed lap), one flying lap (chequered flag), then a cool-down lap. Shootout sets the top-10 grid order. Endurance qualifying separation by the nominated final crew's best practice time (D 5.4.3).
Standing starts; typically 2-3 races per round (a main race 100-250 km + a shorter second race ~100-140 km). In-race refuelling prohibited unless specifically authorised in Supp Regs (D 11.1.1.3); Compulsory Pit Stops prescribed by Supp Regs with a lap window - at a Sprint Round a minimum of two wheels/tyres must be replaced (D 11.1.4.2). One driver per car except enduros.
